Keeping cost down

One of the benefits of studying with Richard here at Storyville is the flexibility in financing that we offer. Not to mention special discounts for returning students, and a referral program that can also help to get your costs down.

Discounts

If you’re a returning student from any of Richard’s classes, anywhere, take an additional 10% off. There is a special code for this, which you can get from Richard.

Payment Plans

Payment plans work in conjunction with both discounts and the Referral Program. Payment plans for Contemporary Dark Fiction, Advanced Creative Writing Workshop, and Novel Workshop 365 do have a 10% non-refundable fee. For more information please see our cancellation policy at the end of this page.

Novel Workshop 365 Additional Details

Due to the cost and time commitment for this class, Storyville requires a signed contract between the student and Richard to enroll in the Novel Workshop. There are no refunds on this class—credit may be rolled into future NIAY classes, other classes, and/or editing.

There are two payment plans available for the Novel Workshop 365—12 months or 24 months.

Additional Costs:

If your novel goes over 66,000 words, Richard will bill for the additional length. Prices are calculated based on the cost of Richard’s editing fees. Developmental edits are $6/page and will be billed in June. For the finished novel that’s $9/page, billed when Richard turns in the completed edits (January or February of the year after class wraps).

So, if the developmental edit ends up at 70,000 words the student will be billed an additional $80. If the final manuscript expands to 76,000 words that would be an additional invoice of $300 due upon receipt of the full edit.

referral program

If you refer a friend or colleague have them mention you referred them and receive a certificate for an additional discount on your next class. I am offering a straight 10% bonus for anyone you refer to my classes—all they have to do is mention you by name when they sign up. Standard rates are listed below (not counting any discounts the students may get). So, for example ACWW could be $60-80, but full price is $80.

Certificates

  • $10 cash or credit—Any Lit Reactor class (Flash Fiction, Short Story Mechanics, etc.)

  • $80 cash or credit—Advanced Creative Writing Workshop

  • $120 cash or credit—Contemporary Dark Fiction

  • $500 cash or credit—Novel Workshop 365

Disclaimer: Credit is good for as long as Richard is teaching and classes have opening. They may expire at any time. If credit is redeemed for cash it it drops to half. If referred author does not pay in full, credit is invalid. Referrals may not be given to authors already taking classes at Storyville.

Richard cares about the stories he edits and cares about making you a better writer. He’ll help you find solutions to your story’s issues and point to where the story’s strengths lie. He is a great editor, coach, and mentor. Bottom line: If you want to be a better writer, work with Richard Thomas.
